Meet The Team
Karen has an excellent team of voluntary trainers who assist her at the dog training classes. They are all long standing members to Swinton Dog Training and between them have many years experience working with their own dogs and instructing at Karen's classes. They have all gained experience by observing Karen instructing in her classes, listening to her advice and by attending one-2-one behavioural consultations with her. Karen is committed to providing excellent dog training, advice and help to dog owners and always ensures her trainers do the same. Karen is always in attendance at the class to oversee or advise on any subjects that a trainer may not feel confident about..
- Carole has attended Swinton Dog Training as both a trainee and trainer for the last 14 years. She has been volunteering at the club for the last 12 years and enjoys giving the dog behaviour and home environment talk to all new member’s. Carole is the proud owner of Chaz the Cocker Spaniel, who is one of the ‘Magnificent Seven’ dogs. These were some of the first dogs in the North West to take and pass their Gold GCDS in 2001 with Swinton Dog Training. Carole's other dog also reached the gold standard of the KC Good Citizen test.
- Barbara is our longest serving member at Dog Training as she has been attending since 1991. Barbara’s first dog Glen, the Labrador was also one of the ‘Magnificent Seven’. Barbara’s dedication to dogs and their education was shown after the sad loss of Glen when she still attended classes for six months without a dog. She spent this time assisting dog owners who were in need of additional help. Barbara's newest dog, Byron also has passed the Gold test. Barbara has now been volunteering at the class for three years and instructs at all levels.
- Pat has attended the club since 2000 with her dog Bonnie and has been an volunteer instructor for last three years. Pat instructs in Beginner/Puppy classes and the Intermediate/Bronze GCDS classes. She also assists Karen at the Puppy Socialisation classes on a Tuesday Evening.
- Janet has been attending classes off and on for the last 14 years. She has been a volunteer trainer for 5 of those years. Her dog Ollie was found as a puppy, starved to the bone and collapsed in a garden. Ollie made a full recovery in Janet's care and went on to be one of the Magnificent Seven dogs. Janet has owned dogs for more than thirty years and often dog sits for friends and family.
- Sue is our newest volunteer trainer who has recently started helping at the classes. She is in training and learning the ropes with Barbara and Janet by offering support in their classes. She has been a dog owner for over 30 years and helps friends and family by looking after their dogs when needed.
- Dorothy is a 'stand in trainer' for Swinton Dog Training and covers for holidays/sickness etc. She has owned her own dogs for over 30 years and has been competing in obedience classes for over 20 years. She is a Kennel Club registered judge in obedience and has successfully 'puppy walked' a number of dogs for the Guide Dogs for the Blind. Dorothy has attended many seminars on dog behaviour and completed the Canine / Human Interface Course.
